History

KZAP. One of the most recognized, and fondly remembered radio stations in the country, began with an aim to present the most interesting music in an honest and personable way. No hype. No jive. No bluster.
On July 4th, 2015 at 9:33 in the morning a group of rock radio veterans and a top flight air staff, launched Sacramento’s K-ZAP, a new—decidedly non-corporate— rock radio station in the spirit of the original KZAP. We serve an audience that had all but given up on finding interesting, thoughtfully selected music anywhere on the radio dial, or on-line.
Our sound is based on a programming philosophy that combines 50 Years of Rock, Blues and More, in a carefully crafted presentation, Sacramento’s K-ZAP exposes new music from artists both familiar and emerging. And, we blend it with the wealth of incredible recordings from the last five decades, much of which has never been touched by corporate radio. Favorite artists making fresh music and fresh artists making new favorites.

Sacramento’s K-ZAP is a non-profit, listener supported community station operated in partnership with Process Theatre, Inc. (PTI) PTI has been providing instruction and support for the performing arts and digital media for more than 30 years.
